Through Oct. 13: Samek Invites Community to ‘Show and Tell’

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this summer, Bucknell’s Samek Art Museum is inviting anyone to contribute objects they consider to be beautiful to an exhibition. The free, public exhibition, entitled “Show & Tell,” will be on view at the Samek’s Downtown Gallery, 416 Market Street, from Tuesday, June 4 through Sunday, October 13. The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday between 12 noon and 5 p.m.

Oct. 16: ‘Art in Bars’ to Pair Three Beards Brewing with Samek Artwork

The Samek Art Museum's "Art in Bars" program returns to Spyglass Ridge Winery, 105 Carroll Road, in Sunbury, as four specially-crafted beers from Three Beards Brewing will be paired with artwork from the Samek's collection. Tickets sell for $10 and may be purchased in advance through Emily Izer, public programs and outreach manager, Samek Art Museum, at 570-577-3981 or emily.izer@bucknell.edu.

Nov. 8: Bucknell’s Baker to Present Women’s Work Lecture Series Talk

The Samek Art Museum will hold the second of three events related to its Women's Work Lecture Series on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Iron Front Cowork Space, 434 Market St., in downtown Lewisburg. Ashli Baker, an assistant professor of classics and ancient Mediterranean studies at Bucknell, will present a free, public talk entitled "The Myth and Art of Cupid and Psyche."

Nov. 28: Samek Art Museum to Host Surrealist Party

The Samek Art Museum will hold a free Surrealist Party to celebrate their current exhibition, The Mystic Detectives, on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Samek Gallery, on the third floor of the Elaine Langone Center. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes representing their favorite surrealist characters.

Oct. 16-Dec. 2: The Mystic Detectives Opens at Samek Gallery

The second Samek Art Museum exhibition of the fall, The Mystic Detectives, opens to the public on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the Samek Gallery, located on the top floor of Bucknell's Elaine Langone Center. The exhibition will continue until Dec. 2 in the Samek Gallery, which is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12 noon-5 p.m.

March 19: Borders and Immigration Panel Discussion Hosted by The Samek Art Museum

The Samek Art Museum will host a panel discussion among four scholars focusing on questions surrounding immigration and migration and the effect they have on the human condition on Tuesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. in the Gallery Theatre, third floor, Elaine Langone Center. This panel is free and hosted in connection with the current exhibition Border Cantos | Sonic Border on display now at the Samek Art Museum’s Campus Gallery, which is just down the hall from the Gallery Theatre.

Jan. 18-March 24: Samek Exhibit Explores Complexities of U.S.-Mexico Border

American photographer Richard Misrach and Mexican-American artist and composer Guillermo Galindo will collaborate to explore the complexities of the U.S.-Mexico border through photography, sculpture and sound in a Samek Art Museum exhibit entitled "Border Cantos | Sonic Border," which will be on display in Bucknell University's Campus Gallery on the third floor of the Elaine Langone Center.
