Sept. 11: 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony to Include Annual Flag Ceremony

The College Republicans, College Democrats and Conservatives Club are co-organizing a 9/11 remembrance ceremony this Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m in The Elaine Langone Center (ELC) Forum. After the ceremony, everyone is invited to help in the annual placing of the flags on the upper ELC lawn.

Sept. 11: Italian Professor to Speak on Human Rights, Mental Health and Trauma

Guido Veronese, a professor in the Department of Human Sciences and Education, the University of Milano-Biccocca in Italy, will present a free, public talk on promoting human rights through mental health practice in conflict zones on Tuesday, September 11, at 7 p.m. in the Willard Smith Library.

Sept. 25-26: UCLA Scholar, Author to Present 32nd Annual Black Experiences Lecture

Kyle T. Mays, assistant professor of African American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), will present Bucknell's 32nd Annual Black Experiences Lecture with a free, public talk entitled "'We Still Here': Indigenous Hip Hop, Resisting (settler) Colonialism, and the Politics of Possibility" on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Elaine Langone Center Forum. There will also be a a lunchtime colloquium with Mays on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Willard Smith Library, Room 125, Vaughn Literature Building.

To help voters, including students and community members, better understand what's at stake in this year's midterm elections, the Bucknell Institute for Public Policy (BIPP) is holding a fall lecture series, Midterm Elections 2018: What Are the Issues? As part of that series, Robin Roberts P'10, with National Media Relations, and Bradley Engle, with Purple Strategies, will conduct a free, public discussion on social media, data and marketing for issue advocacy, corporations and political candidates, on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Olin Science Building 268 (lecture hall).

Staff from the new Bucknell University Farm and Campus Sustainability have partnered to host the first Farm Sustainability Festival on Wednesday October 17 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the University Farm, located on the southwest corner of campus, just past the two blue water towers. Nov. 11: Bucknell to Commemorate Centennial of World War I Armistice

Bucknell University will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War I with a ceremony in the Rooke Chapel Meditation Grove on Sunday, Nov. 11, starting at 10:30 a.m. The ceremony will honor the 718 members of the Bucknell community who participated in the Great War, including the 40 who died during, or as a direct result of, the war.
