Tyler Candelora ’19 to Use Fulbright to Teach English, Study Coal Towns in Argentina

To say recent Bucknell graduate Tyler Candelora ’19 has a personal connection to coal would be an understatement. A native of Coal Township, Pa., his grandfather, Peter Murphy, was an Irish coal miner who died of black lung, and Candelora himself has worked in the industry for his father, David, who owned a coal delivery truck.

April 18: Bucknell to Host Neuroscience Summit on Addiction

Bucknell University is hosting a Neuroscience Summit on Addiction featuring five leading addiction research scholars on Thursday, April 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Campus Theatre, 413 Market St., Lewisburg. The student-created event is free and open to the public and designed to help people better understand the reasons for and effects of addiction. A reception will follow across the street at the Iron Front Building, 434 Market St.

April 9: Noted Scholar, Psychologist to Discuss Sexual Assault and Harassment

The Bucknell psychology department is hosting a talk by Jennifer Freyd -- a professor of psychology at the University of Oregon and noted researcher on Betrayal Trauma Theory (BTT) and campus-based sexual and gender-based violence -- on Monday, April 9 at 7 p.m. in the Forum Theatre, Elaine Langone Center (ELC 272). Her free, public talk is titled "Sexual Assault and Harassment: Moving from Institutional Betrayal to Institutional Courage."
