Dec. 4: An Evening with Guitarist Lenny Kaye

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will host Lenny Kaye, acclaimed guitarist for the Patti Smith Group, on Monday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. “An Evening with Lenny Kaye” is free and tickets are not required. There will be a free question and answer session with Kaye on the same day as the performance at 12 noon, also in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby.

The Samek Art Museum at Bucknell University will host "Art in Bars" at the Pine Barn Inn in Danville, pairing artisanal beer from Covered Bridge Brewhaus with artworks from the Samek Art Museum’s collection on Tuesday, Oct. 3 beginning at 7 p.m. It is a ticketed event--$10 advance purchase or $15 at the door. Oct. 21: ‘Dancing Mind Challenge’ Asks the Community to Unplug

The Griot Institute for Africana Studies, in partnership with Bucknell Library and Information Technology, will again host the Dancing Mind Challenge, inspired by Toni Morrison's essay "The Dancing Mind," in Bertrand Library on Saturday, Oct. 21. The essay advocates for disconnecting from the sometimes overwhelming electronic influences in our modern lives and this event will ask participants to commit to “unplug” for four or eight consecutive hours.

The Bucknell Student Government Community Committee's second annual "Kick or Treat" event will take place at halftime of the Bucknell men's soccer game on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. against Boston University. At halftime, children and families who came dressed up in costume will parade around Emmitt Varsity Soccer Field where there will be Halloween-themed games, snacks, picture opportunities and more.

Bucknell University will host the 12th annual Susquehanna River Symposium, "The Spirit of Two Great Rivers: The Susquehanna and Delaware," on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10 and 11, in the Elaine Langone Center. All symposium events are free and open to the public. The two-day symposium includes a poster presentation session and keynote address on Nov. 10, and plenary talks, break-out sessions, oral presentations, and exhibits on Nov. 11.
