Nov. 27: Vietnam War Book Author Mark Moyar to Present Talk

Mark Moyar, director of the Office of Civilian-Military Cooperation, USAID and author of Triumph Forsaken: The Vietnam War 1954-1965 will give a free, public talk on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m. in Bucknell Hall. This event is part of a speaker series hosted by the Department of Sociology & Anthropology. The talk is part of “The ’60s at 50: Reflections on America a Half-Century Later,” a symposium dedicated to a reconsideration of the political, social and cultural legacy of the American 1960s.

Nov. 28: Samek Art Museum to Host Surrealist Party

The Samek Art Museum will hold a free Surrealist Party to celebrate their current exhibition, The Mystic Detectives, on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Samek Gallery, on the third floor of the Elaine Langone Center. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes representing their favorite surrealist characters.

Nov. 28: ‘’60s at 50’ Symposium to Screen ‘We Were Soldiers’

Bucknell University's “The ’60s at 50: Reflections on America a Half-Century Later,” a symposium dedicated to a reconsideration of the political, social and cultural legacy of the American 1960s, will present a screening of the 2002 film We Were Soldiers on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Campus Theatre, 413 Market Street in downtown Lewisburg.

Nov. 30: Grammy Award-Winning Soweto Gospel Choir to Perform at Weis Center

The Soweto Gospel Choir, an exciting and colorful two-time Grammy Award-winning group from South Africa, makes its return to North America with a performance called Songs of the Free on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets can be purchased online, over the phone at 570-577-1000, or at a Weis Center box office Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets for the performance are $35 for adults, $28 for seniors 62+, $25 for youth 18 and under, $25 for Bucknell employees and retirees (limit 2), $10 for Bucknell students (limit 2), and $25 for non-Bucknell college students (limit 2).

Nov. 30-Dec. 1: Fall Dance Concert to Feature Bucknell Faculty, Guest Performers

The Bucknell Department of Theatre & Dance will present its annual Fall Dance Concert on Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Harvey M. Powers Theatre, located in Coleman Hall. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens. They can be purchased online at bucknell.edu/boxoffice, any Campus Box Office location, or at the theatre an hour before the show.

Oct. 16-Dec. 2: The Mystic Detectives Opens at Samek Gallery

The second Samek Art Museum exhibition of the fall, The Mystic Detectives, opens to the public on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the Samek Gallery, located on the top floor of Bucknell's Elaine Langone Center. The exhibition will continue until Dec. 2 in the Samek Gallery, which is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12 noon-5 p.m.

Jan. 18: Parsons Dance Group to Kick Off Weis Center’s Spring Season with Modern Dance

Parsons Dance Group will kick off the Weis Center for the Performing Arts' spring 2019 season with six unique and eclectic modern dance works on Friday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center.  Tickets for the performance are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 62+, $15 for youth 18 and under, $15 for Bucknell employees and retirees (limit 2), $10 for Bucknell students (limit 2), and $15 for non-Bucknell college students (limit 2). Author Charles Kesler, the Dengler-Dykema Distinguished Professor of Government at Claremont McKenna College, will present the free, public talk "Reconsidering the Great Society and the LBJ Presidency with Charles Kesler" on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. in Bucknell Hall as part of Bucknell University's "The '60s at 50: Reflections on America a Half-Century Later" speakers' series.
