Nov. 28: ‘’60s at 50’ Symposium to Screen ‘We Were Soldiers’

Bucknell University's “The ’60s at 50: Reflections on America a Half-Century Later,” a symposium dedicated to a reconsideration of the political, social and cultural legacy of the American 1960s, will present a screening of the 2002 film We Were Soldiers on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Campus Theatre, 413 Market Street in downtown Lewisburg.

Nov. 28, Dec. 2: Bucknell Theatre to Present House of the Holy Moment

The Bucknell University Department of Theatre & Dance will present the play House of the Holy Moment by Cary Pepper, directed by Kyle Cohick ’20, on Wednesday, Nov. 28 and Sunday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Bucknell Hall. Admission is $7 and tickets may be purchased at bucknell.edu/BoxOffice.

Jan. 18: Parsons Dance Group to Kick Off Weis Center’s Spring Season with Modern Dance

Parsons Dance Group will kick off the Weis Center for the Performing Arts' spring 2019 season with six unique and eclectic modern dance works on Friday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center.  Tickets for the performance are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 62+, $15 for youth 18 and under, $15 for Bucknell employees and retirees (limit 2), $10 for Bucknell students (limit 2), and $15 for non-Bucknell college students (limit 2). Jan. 27: Music by David DeBoor Canfield, Guest Artists to be Featured in Concert

Chamber music by contemporary American composer David DeBoor Canfield will be performed in a free concert featuring guest artists at Bucknell University's Sigfried Weis Music Building’s Rooke Recital Hall on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Canfield will be in attendance and will provide brief verbal program notes for the six pieces being performed.

Michael James, associate dean of faculty, Division of Social Sciences, is the recipient of the Class of 1956 Lectureship for Inspirational Teaching. In conjunction with that award, he'll present a free, public lecture entitled "Citizenship and Responsibility for the Past: The Case of Spain's Sephardim and Morisco" on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. in the Gallery Theatre, third floor, Elaine Langone Center.  A reception in James' honor will be held afterward in Arches Lounge.

March 19: Borders and Immigration Panel Discussion Hosted by The Samek Art Museum

The Samek Art Museum will host a panel discussion among four scholars focusing on questions surrounding immigration and migration and the effect they have on the human condition on Tuesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. in the Gallery Theatre, third floor, Elaine Langone Center. This panel is free and hosted in connection with the current exhibition Border Cantos | Sonic Border on display now at the Samek Art Museum’s Campus Gallery, which is just down the hall from the Gallery Theatre.
