Comedian and Author Chelsea Handler to Speak on Social Activism April 3

Comedian and author Chelsea Handler will participate in a fireside chat on social activism on Tuesday, April 3, at 7 p.m. in Bucknell University’s Weis Center for the Performing Arts. The discussion will be moderated by Bucknell philosophy professor and department chair Sheila Lintott and a 20-minute Q&A will follow. Free tickets are available for the Bucknell community on April 3 from 12 to 4 p.m. at the CAP (Campus Activities and Programs) Center, Weis Center, and online through the campus box office. One hundred tickets will be available at 6 p.m. for the general public and Bucknell community the day of the event at the Weis Center Box Office.

May 16: Stacy Richards ’78 to Deliver Virginia Travis Lectureship in Social Justice

Stacy Richards, a 1978 Bucknell University graduate who is now founder and principal of Stacy Richards & Associates— a consulting firm focused on strategic planning and program implementation for sustainability and energy efficiency — will present the Virginia Travis Lectureship in Social Justice on Wednesday, May 16 at 7 p.m. in the Forum, Elaine Langone Center. The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the Terrace Room.

Dec. 2: Lightwire Theater Returns to Weis Center to Present Holiday Performance

Lightwire Theater: A Very Electric Christmas will come to the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors 62+, $10 for youth 18 and under, $10 for Bucknell employees and retirees (limit 2), $10 for Bucknell students (limit 2), and $10 for non-Bucknell college students (limit 2). Dec. 4: An Evening with Guitarist Lenny Kaye

The Weis Center for the Performing Arts will host Lenny Kaye, acclaimed guitarist for the Patti Smith Group, on Monday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby. “An Evening with Lenny Kaye” is free and tickets are not required. There will be a free question and answer session with Kaye on the same day as the performance at 12 noon, also in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby.

Dec. 5: Lights, Camera, Action: A Showcase of Student Films

Bucknell undergraduate students will premiere their original short films on the big screen at the Campus Theatre on Tuesday, Dec. 5. The free event, which begins at 7 p.m., is the culmination of the Introduction to Film & Video Production course taught by Rebecca Meyers, lecturer and academic film programmer.

Esri, the global leader in spatial analytics, presented Bucknell University’s Digital Pedagogy & Scholarship team with a Special Achievement in GIS (geographic information systems) Award (SAG Award) at its annual Esri User Conference. Selected from over 300,000 eligible candidates, Bucknell received the award for its innovative application of technology, data collection, geospatial information visualization, and thought leadership through GIS in the field of higher education.
