Feb. 28: Famed Flamenco Artist Comes to the Weis Center

Farraquito, the greatest flamenco dancer of this new century according to The New York Times, will perform in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and subscribers, $15 for youth and Bucknell employees and retirees, and $10 for Bucknell students. They can be purchased online or at the Campus Box Office.

March 1-2: All-Female Seraph Brass to Perform Two Concerts

The Bucknell Chamber Music Series and the Office of the Provost present Seraph Brass, a renown all-female brass ensemble, in two free performances on Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Natalie Davis Rooke Recital Hall, and Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. with the Bucknell Symphonic Band in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts.

March 3: Jasper String Quartet to Feature Bucknell Piano Professor in Weis Center Concert

Jasper String Quartet, featuring Bucknell music professor Qing Jiang on piano, will perform on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets for the engagement are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 62+, $15 for youth 18 and under, $15 for Bucknell employees and retirees (limit 2), $10 for Bucknell students (limit 2), and $15 for non-Bucknell college students (limit 2). March 5: Michael James to Present Class of 1956 Award Lecture

Michael James
Michael James, associate dean of faculty, Division of Social Sciences, is the recipient of the Class of 1956 Lectureship for Inspirational Teaching. In conjunction with that award, he'll present a free, public lecture entitled "Citizenship and Responsibility for the Past: The Case of Spain's Sephardim and Morisco" on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. in the Gallery Theatre, third floor, Elaine Langone Center.  A reception in James' honor will be held afterward in Arches Lounge.

Robert Wittman, founder of the FBI’s National Art Crime Team and best-selling author, will present Bucknell University's Samek Distinguished Lecture entitled "Art Crime in the 21st Century" on Wednesday, March 6 at 6 p.m. in the Gallery Forum, second Floor, Elaine Langone Center. A reception in the Samek Art Museum's Campus Gallery will follow the free, public talk.

As part of its celebration of 125 years of engineering education at Bucknell, the College of Engineering is hosting Dr. Wanda Peters, deputy director for planning and business management in the Flight Projects Directorate (FPD) at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, for a free, public talk entitled "NASA's Modern Figures: Lessons from My Journey" on Tuesday, March 19, at 5:15 p.m. in the Forum Lecture Hall, Elaine Langone Center (ELC).  Her talk will be followed by a reception in Walls Lounge.

March 19: Borders and Immigration Panel Discussion Hosted by The Samek Art Museum

The Samek Art Museum will host a panel discussion among four scholars focusing on questions surrounding immigration and migration and the effect they have on the human condition on Tuesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. in the Gallery Theatre, third floor, Elaine Langone Center. This panel is free and hosted in connection with the current exhibition Border Cantos | Sonic Border on display now at the Samek Art Museum’s Campus Gallery, which is just down the hall from the Gallery Theatre.

Jan. 18-March 24: Samek Exhibit Explores Complexities of U.S.-Mexico Border

American photographer Richard Misrach and Mexican-American artist and composer Guillermo Galindo will collaborate to explore the complexities of the U.S.-Mexico border through photography, sculpture and sound in a Samek Art Museum exhibit entitled "Border Cantos | Sonic Border," which will be on display in Bucknell University's Campus Gallery on the third floor of the Elaine Langone Center.

April 2: U.S. Olympic Gymnast Aly Raisman to Speak at Bucknell’s Sojka Pavilion

Aly Raisman — team captain of two gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic women’s gymnastics teams and a 2018 recipient of ESPN’s Arthur Ashe Courage Award on behalf of victims sexually abused by former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar — will speak Tuesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. in Bucknell University's Sojka Pavilion. Raisman will discuss her Olympic gymnastics experiences and being a survivor of sexual abuse. Tickets are free and will be available for students on Monday, April 1, beginning at 10 a.m. at the CAP Center and the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets will be available for the general public on Tuesday, April 2, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Sojka Pavilion box office.
