The second Samek Art Museum exhibition of the fall, The Mystic Detectives, opens to the public on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the Samek Gallery, located on the top floor of Bucknell's Elaine Langone Center. The exhibition will continue until Dec. 2 in the Samek Gallery, which is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12 noon-5 p.m.
Parsons Dance Group will kick off the Weis Center for the Performing Arts' spring 2019 season with six unique and eclectic modern dance works on Friday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center. Chamber music by contemporary American composer David DeBoor Canfield will be performed in a free concert featuring guest artists at Bucknell University's Sigfried Weis Music Building’s Rooke Recital Hall on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Canfield will be in attendance and will provide brief verbal program notes for the six pieces being performed.
Author Charles Kesler, the Dengler-Dykema Distinguished Professor of Government at Claremont McKenna College, will present the free, public talk "Reconsidering the Great Society and the LBJ Presidency with Charles Kesler" on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. in Bucknell Hall as part of Bucknell University's "The '60s at 50: Reflections on America a Half-Century Later" speakers' series.
Named "one of the best college orchestras in the nation" by Time magazine's Richard Ostling, the St. Olaf Orchestra will perform with one of the world's foremost violinists, Sarah Chang, in a free concert at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Piano soloist, collaborator and educator Liza Stepanova will perform a concert as part of the Bucknell Piano Series on Monday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rooke Recital Hall, located in the Sigfried Weis Music Building. This performance is free and open to the public.
