The Bucknell Department of Theatre & Dance will present its annual Fall Dance Concert on Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Harvey M. Powers Theatre, located in Coleman Hall. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens. They can be purchased online at bucknell.edu/boxoffice, any Campus Box Office location, or at the theatre an hour before the show.
The Fall Dance Concert will feature dynamic dance, all beautifully costumed and exquisitely lit by design teams led by Paula Davis, a professor and chair of theatre and dance; and Heath Hansum, lighting and sound design/production manager and co-director, theatre program. As the program celebrates voices of women this season, Professor Dustyn Martincich investigates childhood memories of Antigone through a surrealist lens in new premiere work. Guest Artist Kim Whittam returns to Bucknell from Montclair State University to create a dynamic contemporary work. Professor Kelly Knox, director of dance and co-director of the Bucknell Dance Company, offers a kinesthetic exploration of the surrealistic paintings of René Magritte, while Professor Er-Dong Hu creates a landscape of memory, exploring themes of melancholy and reminiscence. Guest artist Javier Padilla shares his fierce modern mix, while the fresh talents of student choreographers Jess Downie ’19 and Ilana Shektman ’19 will also be showcased.
