The Shanghai Quartet with Qing Jiang, piano, will perform Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. They will perform Mendelssohn’s Quartet Op. 12, Penderecki’s Quartet No. 3 (commissioned by the Shanghai Quartet), and Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34. There will be a pre-performance talk with the artists from 1:15-1:45 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium Lobby.
Renowned for its passionate musicality, impressive technique and multicultural innovations, the Shanghai Quartet has become one of the world’s foremost chamber ensembles. Its elegant style melds the delicacy of Eastern music with the emotional breadth of the Western repertoire, allowing it to traverse musical genres including traditional Chinese folk music, masterpieces of Western music and cutting-edge contemporary works.
Tickets for the performance are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 62+, $15 for youth 18 and under, $15 for Bucknell employees and retirees (limit 2), $10 for Bucknell students (limit 2), and $15 for non-Bucknell college students (limit 2).
