Sept. 25-26: UCLA Scholar, Author to Present 32nd Annual Black Experiences Lecture

Kyle T. Mays, assistant professor of African American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), will present Bucknell's 32nd Annual Black Experiences Lecture with a free, public talk entitled "'We Still Here': Indigenous Hip Hop, Resisting (settler) Colonialism, and the Politics of Possibility" on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Elaine Langone Center Forum. There will also be a a lunchtime colloquium with Mays on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Willard Smith Library, Room 125, Vaughn Literature Building.

Sept. 28: Steve Aoki to Headline Bucknell’s Fall Concert

The Bucknell Concert Committee presents American electro house musician, record producer and DJ Steve Aoki, with opening act AJR, on Friday, Sept. 28, in Bucknell University’s Gerhard Fieldhouse. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 8. Tickets are $30 for Bucknell students and $40 for all others and may be purchased through the Bucknell Box Office at bucknell.edu/boxoffice or 570-577-1000.

Oct. 2: Experts to Discuss Social Media, Data and Marketing

To help voters, including students and community members, better understand what's at stake in this year's midterm elections, the Bucknell Institute for Public Policy (BIPP) is holding a fall lecture series, Midterm Elections 2018: What Are the Issues? As part of that series, Robin Roberts P'10, with National Media Relations, and Bradley Engle, with Purple Strategies, will conduct a free, public discussion on social media, data and marketing for issue advocacy, corporations and political candidates, on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Olin Science Building 268 (lecture hall).

Oct. 2: Bucknell Student Lectureship Series to Host Josh Peck

The Bucknell University Student Lectureship Series will host former Nickelodeon teen star, actor, comedian and YouTube personality Josh Peck on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. in the Weis Center for Performing Arts. Tickets are free and available to Bucknell students starting at 10 a.m. on Oct. 2 at the CAP Center, Weis Center and online. Any remaining tickets will be available for the general public when the Weis Center doors open at 6 p.m.

Oct. 2: Professor Yang Wei to Speak on 17th-Century China

History professor Yang Wei, the Donahue Chair of East Asian History at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, will deliver a free, public lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m., in the Gallery Theater on the 3rd floor of the Elaine Langone Center. The lecture is entitled "Institutional Innovations and Political Decay in 17th-Century China" and is hosted by The China Institute at Bucknell University.

Oct. 11: Acclaimed Bagpiper to Perform with Her Band at the Weis Center

Internationally acclaimed Galician bagpiper master and classical pianist Cristina Pato will perform with her band on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. There will be a pre-performance talk with the artist the same day as the performance at 1 p.m. in the Weis Center Atrium. Tickets for the performance are $22 for adults, $18 for seniors 62+, $12 for youth 18 and under, $12 for Bucknell employees and retirees (limit 2), $10 for Bucknell students (limit 2), and $12 for non-Bucknell college students (limit 2). Oct. 16: ‘Art in Bars’ to Pair Three Beards Brewing with Samek Artwork

Oct. 17: Inaugural Farm Sustainability Festival Set for Campus Farm

Staff from the new Bucknell University Farm and Campus Sustainability have partnered to host the first Farm Sustainability Festival on Wednesday October 17 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the University Farm, located on the southwest corner of campus, just past the two blue water towers. The event is free and open to students, staff, faculty, families and community members.
