The Bucknell Classics & Ancient Mediterranean Studies and Samek Art Museum have partnered for an exhibition called “Women’s Work,” from Tuesday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Feb. 3, in the Downtown Gallery, located at 416 Market Street, Lewisburg.
Women’s Work will reexamine the power structures in classical tales. The pieces in the exhibition are all done by female artists and focus on power, the gaze and desire, and the act of reading and responding. Those who attend the exhibition can expect to leave with a new understanding of what a book can be.
The Samek Art Museum is also holding a “Women’s Work Lecture Series” with lectures by Bucknell professors on Thursday, Oct. 18, Thursday, Nov. 9, and Thursday, Nov. 29. All lectures will be held at 6 p.m. at the Iron Front Cowork Space in downtown Lewisburg.
