Christine Sciacca, scholar and associate curator for European art 300-1400 CE at The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, is coming to the Samek Art Museum to speak about “Illuminating Women in the Middle Ages” on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Gallery Theatre, Elaine Langone Center.
Sciacca is set to discuss an overlooked area in the study of Medieval history — the role of women in societies at the time. She began her role as associate curator at The Walters Art Museum in early 2017 and she oversees the museum’s collection of objects from Europe and the Mediterranean basin. She earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and her Ph.D. in art history from Columbia University.
This event is both free and open to the public. For more information on events coming to the Samek Art Museum, please visit their website.
