Penn Central Wind Band to Play Fall Concert Saturday in Weis Center

LEWISBURG, Pa. — The Penn Central Wind Band will present a rare fall concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 in Bucknell University’s Weis Center for the Performing Arts. Admission is free.

The concert theme is “Great Music for Band,” and features music by classic composers for the medium such as John Philip Sousa and Gordon Jacob, as well as music composed more recently by Caroyn Bremer, Julie Giroux and Bruce Broughton. A highlight of the program will feature trumpeter John Anthony on Broughton’s virtuosic Excursions for Trumpet and Band.

The band, conducted by Bucknell Professor William Kenny, music, includes professional musicians from some 25 towns and cities from central Pennsylvania ranging from Scranton to State College. For over 30 years, Bucknell has sponsored the band to enrich the arts environment of the region.
