On Wednesday, Sept. 27, the 31st Annual Black Experiences Lecture will be given by Karyn Lacy, associate professor of sociology at the University of Michigan, in the LC Forum at 7 p.m. Her talked is titled “Growing Up Around Blacks: Strategic Assimilation in Middle-Class Suburbia.”
Lacy is author of “Blue-Chip Black: Race, Class and Status in the New Black Middle Class” (2007), a study on trajectories for middle-class black suburbanites from the Washington, D.C. region.
