The Bucknell Opera Theatre will present a free performance of Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts.
The Bucknell Opera Theatre program offers a variety of training in opera and musical theatre genres with opportunities to perform and direct. Under the direction of Emily Martin, an assistant professor of music, voice; and Bryson Baumgartel, music director; the Opera Theatre performs works by composers such as Mozart, Sondheim, Barber, Bernstein, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Purcell. Undergraduate students present one fully staged and costumed opera/musical with orchestra each year in the Weis Center.
