Nov. 3-5: Bucknell to Hold Homecoming Weekend

More than 600 alumni and their families are expected to return to the Bucknell University campus to participate in Homecoming Weekend Friday-Sunday, Nov. 3-5. The annual celebration will feature several public events.

The full weekend schedule includes the Homecoming football game vs. Patriot League rival Lehigh Saturday at noon. The 2017 Athletics Hall of Fame inductees — Lectie Altman ’06 (swimming and diving), Kevin Bettencourt ’06 (basketball), Maria Harkley ’04 (track and field), Charles Lee ’06 (basketball), Melanie Lincoln ’07 (track and field) and Chris McNaughton ’07 (basketball) — will be honored at halftime. Tickets can be purchased through the box office, or at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium on game day.

The Bucknell men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host a Saturday noon meet against American, Lafayette and Navy in Kinney Natatorium, while the Bison women’s volleyball team will host Loyola in Davis Gym at 5 p.m.

The Third Annual Friends of Bison Basketball Dinner will take place Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in Larison Dining Hall. The event will bring men’s basketball alumni, parents and friends together to celebrate Bison basketball through the years. It will feature a welcome by the three new basketball Athletics Hall of Fame inductees, and Bison Head Coach Nathan Davis will preview the upcoming season and introduce his team. Anyone interested in attending should RSVP by Nov. 1 to Todd Newcomb, senior associate athletics director for the Bison Club, at tnewcomb@bucknell.edu.

The weekend will feature arts and cultural events open to the public. The Samek Art Museum’s “Inherent Control Cyphers,” the current interactive digital exhibition by Denver-based artist Laleh Mehran, is on display through Dec. 3, and during Homecoming weekend will be open noon to 5 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Samek Art Museum is located on the third floor of the Elaine Langone Center.

Two free concerts will be hosted on Saturday. Two Past Midnight, Bucknell’s oldest coed a cappella group, will perform at 7 p.m. in Bucknell Hall. The Bucknell Jazz Band will play its annual fall concert under the direction of Professor Barry Long at 7:30 p.m. in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts.

The weekend culminates with Beyond Unison’s fall concert on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Weis Center. Tickets can be purchased at the door or through the box office.
